As lifestyles are so busy these days, people are always looking to cut down on daily chores. Maintaining healthy looking plants at home and in the office used to be time consuming and upsetting task when confronted with plants that were undernourished, under watered or even both! With the availability of artificial plants, flowers and trees that are both exceptionally realistic and in addition low cost, this has made replica trees a real viable alternative. Artificial Plants always look healthy and require little maintenance. In addition they do not have the environment demands that some real life plants and trees have.

Now with advances in technology leading to more botanically accurate artificial and silk plants, this has lead to the stigma that was previously attached to ‘artificial plants’ being a thing of the past. In addition plants can now have a variety of low-cost treatments to make them UV resistant and fire retardant allowing them to be placed in all environments safely.Valentina - Hand Blown Glass Flower Vase

Artplants.co.uk has tapped in to this market by offering a range of over 300 artificial trees, plants and silk flowers direct over the internet. They also provide a bespoke service allowing them to create both outdoor and indoor trees over 30ft in height. Such commissions in the past have been for large shopping centres, leisure facilities and large offices.

In a interview James Bartlett Managing Director of Artplants.co.uk explains the demand for artificial plants and trees has grown significantly in recent years. Low cost high quality production in the Far East has now ensured that artificial plants are now a cost-effective solution. In addition people’s lifestyles have changed, and in line with the upturn in convenience foods, so the growth in the convenience environment has followed. “At the same time demand has increased in the artificial plants market, new trends and fashions have also come to the fore. We used to supply large numbers of the traditional ficus trees and Japanese maples. As time has progressed what is fashionable has changed. The impetus has now switched towards bamboos, palms and in particular topiary, boxwood and matting. We constantly have to adapt our range at Artplants to cater for these changes.”5ft Bougainvillea Spectablis - Purple

As this market continues to develop there is no doubt that artificial plants will be an evermore prominent feature of modern day living. James Bartlett explains “I think the best way forward to create the ideal environment is to use a combination of both real and artificial trees, that way you can have the best of both worlds.”
