The two most popular forms of plastic surgery in 2011 seem to have been Botox and Breast Enhancement. Much like any other aspect of fashion and beauty, plastic surgery is something that moves in trends of popularity, with certain types of procedures used more commonly at times than others. This is an interesting concept to people who may be considering certain procedures, as it can be worth looking into which procedures are common at a given time. However, for information on trends, you may need to do a bit more poking around.

In fact, in many cases, mere observation of celebrity surgeries can be a very strong indicator of which surgical styles will soon be common among average people. However, here are a few words on what seemed most popular in 2011, as well as what may be on the horizon for plastic surgery in 2012.
To begin with, it is certainly worth noting that the numbers indicate an increase of popularity across the board for plastic surgery in the United States in 2011. This means that in spite of the declining economy, people are still managing to put money toward often expensive cosmetic surgeries, which certainly implies that the surgeries themselves are providing satisfactory results that patients keep wanting. These may be reassuring facts for anyone who still believes that plastic surgery is in any way a rarity.
Botox probably came in with strong numbers (as usual) because it is one of the least invasive and least expensive forms of cosmetic treatment, and involves injections rather than actual surgery. Essentially, Botox is being used as a cheaper and simpler alternative to facelift procedures. Breast enhancements, on the other hand, are plenty invasive and expensive, and have still experienced an increase in popularity. This may be due in part to the fact that younger people are having more surgery, and often times younger women will be more inclined to alter their breasts.
While it is impossible to predict what exactly will be popular in 2012, it is safe to say that the two types of procedures listed above should continue to thrive in terms of popularity. As long as botox and breast enhancement are still performing adequately for reasonable prices, they will continue to be very popular procedures. Meanwhile, expect alternatives to these methods – such as breast lifts and collagen injections – to decline slightly in response to the positive trends. Botox has received a lot of negative press in the UK recently, some of it due to the disastrous results and continuing failing health of one of its popular female TV stars – Leslie Ash who since having botox injected into her lips has contracted MRSA and is now wheelchair bound.
Must say to anyone considering botox – be careful!
