“While the Summer and Fall of 2007 saw a blooming of rich color and flowing curls among styles, the new year will be heralded with more subdued looks. As is customary with winter styles, the colors will grow darker and highlighting will be more subdued. Those rich and bold tones and colors will be foresworn in favor of higher gloss in their darker shades. The free-flowing and energetic curls will give way to sleek and smooth styling. Even those who choose to keep their waves and curls will opt for more controlled and cleanly-defined tresses.”
I’ve cut my hair shorter two months ago. It’s not really a bob, but I just wanter to get rid of the layers. And of course, to leave it grow equal length for a while (till I get bored again
). Today I read this article about hairstyle predictions on Hairfinder by Stacy (their stylist) and guess what: I’m in trends and my new black color also
“While the Summer and Fall of 2007 saw a blooming of rich color and flowing curls among styles, the new year will be heralded with more subdued looks. As is customary with winter styles, the colors will grow darker and highlighting will be more subdued. Those rich and bold tones and colors will be foresworn in favor of higher gloss in their darker shades. The free-flowing and energetic curls will give way to sleek and smooth styling. Even those who choose to keep their waves and curls will opt for more controlled and cleanly-defined tresses. Look for the bob style to make a bit of a “comeback” this Winter season (even though it never really went away) as several celebrities are making this classic look all their own. Victoria Beckham is already making a splash with her highly publicized asymmetrical bob cut which has been renamed “The Pob” (for “Posh ‘Spice’ Bob”).”
Here’s a pic, a friend took me today. My hair wasn’t this short since I was 17, but I cannot decide if I should settle for a bob, or grow it again. Give me your opinion!

Stacy says: “Even if you don’t opt for a bob, consider going shorter for the New Year” (for Christmas I’ve planned some curls, or better yet “defined tresses”). “One added benefit for trimming at least a few inches is that you leave your hair healthier overall. Remember, if you start at the scalp and move outward toward the ends of the hair, every six inches traveled equates to around a year of growing time. So for the woman whose hair is more than shoulder length, the last couple of inches of hair have been exposed to around two years’ worth of styling abuse.”
Her final note: “remember that the ultimate goal of style and fashion is to help us put our best foot forward. You should never let yourself be a slave to fashion or hairstyle trends. If you are comfortable with your personal style, don’t change it just because everyone else does. Look to the overall trends and see what parts of it you can adapt to what you know works for you. “
I wish to share with you that I choose to be a brunette for life , but I cannot cure the urge to try a different hairstyles.

Hey, I like your hair. You should go for the bob. I was thinking of going in the same direction. I’m tired of my long hair- it is kind of boring really. I guess this means I will also be whipping out my flat iron to go from wavy to sleek.

Nice hair!
I also like Rihanna’s new look.
October 19th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Hello Lesha! Thanks
October 19th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
Rihanna’s new look is awesome.I have a friend that changed her look in something close to Rihanna’s but in my opinion, the face shape matters for some looks
November 1st, 2007 at 6:06 pm
I agree that the face shape matters Keira, mine is too round for the Rihanna. But I COULD go for something more flattering, maybe with different, more flattering layers?
November 11th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
I actually just got my hair cut, nothing daring like a bob, but I did chop of 3 inches! Baby steps, baby steps….
November 15th, 2007 at 6:48 pm
I finally got side bangs last friday, and they look good. I am worried about maintaining them, though.
November 29th, 2007 at 6:26 am
I cut my hair to a chin length bob and as much as I like it, I prefer long hair because it’s alot easier to handle for me!
December 4th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Yeah, if I had short hair, I’d have to straighten it every day, which I very rarely do.
December 5th, 2007 at 8:51 am
that’s a nice hair cut!! i wished i had straight hair, and i could cut it like that..
December 5th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
I also at times wish I had stick straight hair, it’d be so much easier!!
December 5th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
I love Rihanna’s new hair, kind of a vintage / pinup look
December 6th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
it is kinda vintage and pin up…i do like rihanna’s cut..i think a lot of girls are doing that nowadays…
December 6th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
I wonder who had the bob first, Rihanna or Victoria Beckham?
December 9th, 2007 at 5:22 am
I think victoria…?
December 9th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Oh, ok. I think Rihanna looks better in it, though.
December 10th, 2007 at 12:04 am
Absolutely go for the bob….
And for those of you who missed the memo…
IT IS OFFICIAL: “2008: YEAR OF THE BOB”
From the trend setting non-conformist who gave you:
“2007: YEAR OF THE BANG”
December 10th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
so I am trendy wuuuuuhuuu
December 10th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
# 17- what was they hairstyle of 2005 and 2006? Just wondering. I wonder what 2009’s will be. Maybe it’ll stay a bob.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
“2005: YEAR OF THE EXTENSION”
“2006: YEAR OF THE MOHAWK!”
lol…I JUST cut my hair. OFCOURSE IT’S NOT A MOHAWK! I’m a TRENDSETTER, not a “Fad pusher!” (no offense)…Some people just like to keep up with what’s in, nothing wrong with that. I simply refuse to conform…blah, blah, blah(lol).
Be Blessed!
December 11th, 2007 at 11:43 am
mohawk? for girls too?
December 11th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
I think 2005 was defianatly the year of the extension. I think Paris Hilton is caught in 2005 and will never emerge!
December 11th, 2007 at 11:37 pm
lol…what I meant to say is that, “ofcourse I didn’t cut my hair into a BOB.”(lol)
A lot of people are trapped in years and decades. Flava-Flave is a perfect example along with Willie Nelson!
Funny about Paris…this may be true
December 12th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
omg flava flave I don’t understand what he’s doing!
December 12th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
I hope in 2008 people stop the bleaching and straightening. I’m tired of it.
December 13th, 2007 at 8:03 pm
Also they need to tone down the pompadour thing. I like it but not when it is extreme.
December 14th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
hehe than you will hate the beehive!
December 14th, 2007 at 8:16 pm
The beehive is a risk, the over the top pompadour is annoying!
December 15th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
K. Beasley- did you find your info on a website or did you make it up?
December 16th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
What about the strait bangs??
December 18th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
It’s sort of a sixth sense, Rory (lol)…yeah, myself;)
Straight bangs are edgy, so I give it 2 thumbs up. Ofcourse, there’s always SOMEONE who will find some unheard of way to mess it up. The pompadour is a prime example. I don’t know where you guys are, but in the South, they have this whole urban hair-show fad thing going on where it’s like a competition for who can combine the most hairstyles in one. I wonder if I can post a pic?
December 18th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
@K.Beasley- You can email me the pic and I’ll upload it for you
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:15 pm
I really want to go shorter but im worried that once i cut it i’ll regret it. My hairs quite long at the moment and i want a change
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:39 pm
All stylist advice against major changes. If you really want a change keep your length and try a different style , bangs or cut just few inches you’ll have back in a couple of months.
Check out my other hairstyle posts for ideas!
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:33 pm
Okay, but whats a bang? Am i being really stupid in not knowing this lol?
December 27th, 2007 at 11:16 am
I hate this trend. It’s definitely ugly and very unnatural. And whenever I see women sporting this Victoria Beckham bob I feel like laughing in their face. Get a fucking personality! Some women just follow the trends blindly, which makes us man question their brain capacity.
PS: Victoria Beckham was the first to have it, Rihanna (and everyone else who has it) are pathetically copying it. VB looked good in it back in the days, but now her hair is ruined from too much coloring, hair extensions and crap. Another sign that fake=crap.
December 27th, 2007 at 11:19 am
Oh crap forgot to say. Your hair looks great. It’s not short and fake looking, like Rihanna’s. Looks much better.
December 31st, 2007 at 6:44 am
hei i like your hair..
and i thin victoia comes first, and the wol call it POB (posh bob) for victoria trendsetting, but rihana looks good on it, even with curls either
January 2nd, 2008 at 12:30 am
…sorta been missing in action, but thanks Maggie. Umm…Jason, dude, with all due respect, any man that knows as much about the politically correct history of the evolution of hair styles as much as you do, has probably worn them all. Ofcourse I’m not making any assumptions about you, please do understand. However, true fashion-forward people, whether they choose to be trend-setters or trend-followers know how to at least understand the personalities and styles of others. Contrary to what you THINK is “hot” or “in”. Much love.
Be Blessed,
K. Beasley

i love the bob but i dont want to cut my hair short.
i had really choppy short blonde hair end of 2006 and begin of 2007 and then it has taken me since then to grow it. During this time the most exciting thing i did to my hair was dye it brown.
im jst bout to get a hair cut and go blonde again. As im in Australia, its heading 2ward the end of summer and i thought i’d wait for the on-rush of girls dying their hair blonde 4 summer to die down b4 i made change, 2 make it have a bigger effect.
but now i dont know how to cut my hair, i dont want 2 go shorter coz i jst put in all the effort of growing it.
i was going to go for longer layers but still hav a choppy texture. however this sounds kinda like im going in the wrong direction as far as hair trends go. Wat do u think?
January 31st, 2008 at 9:33 pm
I’m a Hairstylist and i do like the bob cut. My hair are medium long. and all chocolate brown and i do have my clips on and off extensions for when i feel like having those long hair back on again.. i do love it!
May 10th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
I love the bob! But I spent way too long growing out my hair lol so I’m gonna be trying out the fake bob. That way I can go long to chique and back again.:)

I’m African American with permed hair. My hair just barely brushes my shoulders (so its not very long) and I’m interested to see how the instyler will work for me.
