Not many women have been endowed with that perfect eyebrow so most of them have to resort other procedures to attain the desired shape or reach to it. We all know a ‘perfect’ brow shape starts directly above the inner corner of the eye, while its highest point is little beyond the outer corner of the iris. And that should taper off to the end in a bow like shape.

I am a victim of an salon eyebrow accident. And if your hair roots are as thin as mine, it will never grow back. Just because your eyebrows have always grown back in the past, doesn’t mean they will this time. So, make sure you go to a trusted salon and not let them over do it. It seems like they always want to make eyebrows very thin and have harsh angles…

I just wish I could do it all over again. After years of tweezing I surely know how… But for those of you who maybe don’t have the perfect shape yet, but still have the ‘material’, below are five tricks you must know to avoid accidents and a guide to help you choose the perfect shape:

  • Buy a good tweezer and get used to it before shaping your eyebrows.
  • Wax only the not needed hairs and tweeze to define the shape (between the eyebrows, along the temples and way under the eyebrow).
  • Do your best eyebrow first, and then you can use it as a guide for the other one.
  • Use a mirror in front of your eyes, but look from another mirror situated in the back to have a better observation angle.
  • Use an eyebrowz stencil. Below are 5 eyebrows stencil basic shapes to help you pick your “perfect” brow shape that considers your individual bone structure and your face shape.

Eyebroz Stancil

Round Shape Makes a face appear rounder. It softens features and emphasizes the heart in the heart shaped face.

Round Shape

Angled Shape Great for those wanting a face lift. People will see you as more youthful and they won’t know why.

Angled Shape

Soft angled Shape Similar to above, but its peak is softer, more subtle, and feminine. Shapes in this catalog have often been referred to as “perfect” brow shapes.

Soft angled Shape

Curved Shape The eyebrow defaults here to a thoughtful expression giving a more professional look. This shape is lovely for all face shapes and should not be overlooked.

Flat Shape Perfect for those with a long face - it’s horizontal lines make the face appear shorter and more oval. A flat shape creates a very natural look.

Another good option for beginners is to visit a Benefit cosmetics free-standing store or counter - they have a thing called a “Brow Bar,” where they shape your brows into perfection. My friend does it and her brows always look great.

I too was the victim of an eyebrow accident. I’ve been growing mine out now (very painfully, I might add, I feel like Chewbaca!) for a few months. I’m almost ready to go into the Benefit Brow Bar actually to be shaped, and your tips about brow shape will be very helpful. Thank you!

i am sadly another victim of a bad eyebrow job!
but i do not have the strength or guts to grow them out
the course is too painful and looks so untidy
therefore i must live with thin eyesbrows :|

WOW! I wish I had seen these YEARS ago. I have been one of those chronic overpluckers but then when I allowed my brows to regrow I was never quite sure just what shape they were supposed to be in. If only I had known there were tricks like these.

  6. rory Says:

I pluck my eyebrows just where they are not supposed to grow, and then fill in gaps and put on a wax to get an arch. Some people would say my eyebrows are too thick but my inspiration is Brooke Shields. The thicker the better(as long as they are well groomed.)

    Good tips….thanks!

  8. KittiChai Says:

Great shaped eyebrows can do soooo much to a face - bad shaped pnes can destroy a whole look even if the makeup is perfect!

  9. rory Says:

    duigua,

if you don’t grow them out, soon they will never come back. After plucking all the time, it becomes permanent. Want to look like Pam Anderson? Didn’t think so.

  10. KittiChai Says:

OH I wish mine would not come back!!!
They are so thick and full - if I don’t pluck them I have one giant eyebrow! lol

  11. rory Says:

Hahaha, well atleast you won’t have to pencil your eybrows in!

  12. Mary Says:

goshers i don’t even know what to do with my eyebrows!!! i wished mines look like hers!! in the pics!!

  13. rory Says:

Yeah, that girl’s eyebrows look great! If only mine were always perfect…

  14. KittiChai Says:

    I wish I had less!
My best friend always has to hold me down and bear with my whining when she plucks them >.

  15. Mary Says:

haha, i didn’t like plucking at first..sometimes i can’t stop now…i need a good waxing? have you tried?

  16. rory Says:

Mary, waxing is not as good as plucking just because waxing over the years pulls the skin above your eyes and makes it “flabby”. My aunt works at a spa and she told me this is what the eyebrow lady said.

  17. KittiChai Says:

Nooooooooo so there’s no way out of plucking? :(

  18. rory Says:

Kitti, many people see no harm in waxing. But I think plucking is a better alternative.

  19. KittiChai Says:

Hm I think it would be extra bad too my lids, my skin is thin like paper there! :(

  20. rory Says:

Just pluck. I don’t know why people don’t all pluck. It does not hurt. At least to me. Ofcoure you need to get “other places” waxed, not plucked, or you’d die from pain.

  21. KittiChai Says:

well, seems like the only way to go, sadly :(

  22. rory Says:

Is it common to get laser hair removal on your eyebrows?

  23. KittiChai Says:

good question! I think a lot of people are to afraid of that because they want to be able to change their eyebrow style

  24. rory Says:

Wow, imagine if you accidentally took off the wrong hair! :o

  25. rory Says:

I also heard that laser removal hurts.

  26. KittiChai Says:

I just found out about another method called threading. You pull out the hair by making a loop with threads, I have seen a video about it and if you get it done it seems to be quite a quick method. I will try it out when I have find a salon that offers it!

  27. Jessica Says:

wht if your eyebrows are in a kind of down…..arched down….how can you make them look arched up??

  28. Jasmine Says:

    i got my eyebrows threaded and they look awesome :) well threading hurts x_x;
